Constellation Ensemble is a Chicago-based vocal ensemble dedicated to creating distinct performances in unique spaces, championing contemporary vocal music, and fostering meaningful connections between artists, audiences, and community partners.
Founded in 2013, Constellation has become a leading advocate for new vocal music through its commitment to artistic excellence, collaborative music-making, and the commissioning of works by living composers. Through its annual NOVA (New. Original. Vocal. Art.) series, the ensemble has premiered dozens of new works, cultivating a growing body of repertoire while providing a platform for both emerging and established voices in contemporary composition.
Beyond the concert stage, Constellation believes music can serve as a catalyst for conversation, reflection, and community engagement. Through educational initiatives, artistic residencies, and its Community Uplift Partnership, the ensemble collaborates with organizations throughout Chicago to connect music with issues and causes that shape the city it calls home.
Recent highlights include the release of the ensemble’s debut album, Man Up / Man Down, on Sono Luminus Records; appearances as featured artists of the Ear Taxi Festival; multiple residencies with Music of the Baroque’s Strong Voices program; and collaborations with the Chicago Park District, universities throughout the Midwest, and nonprofit organizations serving communities across Chicago.
Whether presenting world premieres in conservatories, cathedrals, concert halls, or public parks, Constellation Ensemble creates performances that invite audiences to listen deeply, engage thoughtfully, and discover the transformative power of shared musical experiences.
Constellation Ensemble has been a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization recognized as such by the IRS since 2015.
